22 May 10, Caring Hearts Program

The next Caring Hearts food program will be Saturday, May 22nd.

Greetings AFSA members!

The next Caring Hearts food program will be Saturday, May 22nd. Caring Hearts food program is a bulk grocery program ran by First United Methodist Church, but it is a multi-denominational program that many churches in the area purchase food boxes for their needy and shut-ins.

The First United Methodist Church has suggested that our volunteers show up at 0730 on May 22nd if they want an easy parking spot due to the O'Fallon High School Graduation across the street on that day. If you do show up at 0730 they will be in the basement setting up and would love the help.

Location:
First United Methodist Church
504 E US Highway 50
O Fallon, IL 62269
(618) 632-2354

Attire: Comfortable civilian attire (no cut-off jeans or inappropriate for military image) If you have an AFSA shirt you're encouraged to wear that.

Est finish: 0945-1000

What to expect:
- Volunteers rally in the church basement (park around back to the right and go in through the back doors)
- When the delivery truck arrives, everyone forms a line out to the truck to bring in supplies to the assembly stations inside
- Once all supplies are in place, they usually have a prayer, sing happy birthday/anniversary
- The boxes will start flowing rapidly
- Volunteers then form a human chain from the end of the assembly line back out to the truck
- Those that are being donated to the base are set aside for the First Sergeants or designated reps to pick up and deliver to the individuals that we have reserved them for

***If you are interested, a few of us also go to the senior living apartments afterwards and deliver about 70 boxes!

For the months of February/March, we did 770+ boxes. Awesome volunteer opportunity.

If you have any questions, please contact TSgt Daniel Endris . Thank you and have a wonderful day!
