AFSA Caring Hearts, 19 Nov 2011

The next AFSA Caring Hearts event is scheduled for 19 November @0800.

The next Caring Hearts food drive will take place next Saturday, 19 Nov 11. Please get the word out to your folks who also may be interested in participating. I have attached the details below:

Showtime: 0815 (0730 to help with table/box setup). Please sign in on the roster when you arrive. It will be located at the far left table up front.

Location:

First United Methodist Church
504 E US Highway 50
O Fallon, IL 62269
(618) 632-2354

Attire: Comfortable civilian attire (no cut-off jeans or inappropriate attire for proper military image). If you have an AFSA shirt you are highly encouraged to wear that.

What to expect:

- Volunteers rally in the church basement (park around back to the right and go in through the back doors).
- When the delivery truck arrives, everyone forms a line out to the truck to bring in supplies to the assembly stations inside.
- Once all supplies are in place, they usually have a prayer, sing happy birthday/anniversary.
- Once box assembly starts, the line will flow rapidly.
- Volunteers then form a human chain from the end of the assembly line back out to the truck.
- Boxes donated to the base are set aside for the First Sergeants or designated reps to pick up and deliver to the individuals that we have reserved them for.

***If you are interested, a few of us also go to the senior living apartments afterwards and deliver about 70 boxes***

Estimated finish: 0945-1000 (If interested, you are welcome to assist with box delivery at the senior living apartments afterwards).

***NOTES***

- I will be going on leave for this month's event and will be TDY to the NCO Academy in April and May. SMSgt Gary Lawrence will be the POC for Caring Hearts during that time.

- This month, the church will be celebrating its 20th year in the Caring Hearts ministry and they would particularly like to recognize Team Scott for our continued support, so let's try to have a good showing. Hope to see you all there!

Please note that this month, the event takes place on the 3rd Saturday due to Thanksgiving the following weekend.  The same will apply next month for Christmas.  Mark your calendars as it will be 17 December.  With the Holiday season upon us, we are expecting double the normal amount of boxes (over 300+) so please spread the word around your shops.  The more help we can get, the better.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Thanks and have a great day!
